TOPIC: HOW MANY DINOSAURS?
TEACHING AIDS: TEXTBOOK, CD
TIME: 50 min
TEACHING AIMS:
• counting 1-6 and reading words
• number+colour+noun
• regular plurals with -s
AT THE END OF THE LESSON THE PUPILS WILL BE ABLE TO:
• count and recognize the number
• identify an object by its colour
1.WARM-UP
• children sing MY BOX OF COLOURS and thus they remember the colours
2.INTRODUCING THE NUMBERS
• teacher introduces the numerals 1-6 writing them on the blackboard, points to and name the numbers; teacher does it again and this time children repeat
3. LISTENING-READING-COUNTING (Listen, read and count):
• children are introduced the word dinosaur and the plural with -s
• children repeat several times
• teacher reads the script; children listen and follow in their books, pointing first at the numerals, then at the word, then at the pictures
4.COUNTING (How many red dinosaurs? Look and count):
• teacher points to the coloured dinosaurs and asks How many red dinosaurs? ; children look at the dinosaurs above and count; they continue with the remaining dinosaurs
5. SPEAKING (Match and say)
• teacher and children quickly revise the words for the numbers
6. SONG (Listen and sing)
• children look at the picture and must say how many dinosaurs they can see
• teacher plays the CD and children sing along
HOMEWORK
1. READING-WRITING (Read and write)
• teacher uses the aeroplane finger puppet to revise the writing of thenumerals; the class says the number as I write in the air
• children read the numbers and match them with the stars at the top, then they write the numerals
2. COUNTING (Count, read and match)
• children count the items in the pictures, draw a line to the numerals and then to the word
