UNIT/TITLE OF THE LESSON: PRESENTING MY FAMILY
SUPPORT LESSONS : MY FAMILY(I AM SPECIAL COURSEBOOK) , PREVIOUS LESSONS WITH GENERAL BASIC CONVERSATIONAL TOPIC
MATERIALS: I AM SPECIAL , COURSEBOOK FOR THE 3rd GRADE , THE INTERNET , HANDOUTS
TYPE OF THE LESSON : GENERAL KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE ABOVE MENTIONED ISSUE , VOCABULARY , LEARNING HOW TO EXPRESS OURSELVES (PRESENTING OUR FAMILY), SHORT GRAMMAR SECTION
AIMS: To give the pupils the necessary vocabulary used in order to be able to present their family , their family members, their age, characteristics, short description of people , mixed with short description of objects they have learned in previous lessons . Recognizing words, expressions (shorter ones), about family, desc riptions .
Anticipated problems: The pupils are asked to remember some words they have learned in several introduction lessons , which link themselves in a logical way, in order to express, for instance, age, persons , features. Pupils must warm-up by a conversation with their teacher about themselves , basic conversational skills, about their family . The teacher must then teach them pronouns or adjectives which are useful when they try to describe persons or family on a basic level .
Introduction : Warm up, greetings The teacher greets the audience and starts a conversation with one of the pupils .Basic conversation. 5 min
Presentation/elicitation :
I. Can pupils still remember about family members ? can they list the words studied in that previous lesson ? short exercise –matching the right sense in English and Romanian .
Can pupils recap some quite short expressions used when trying to express age ?
Persons in our family and their descriptions /old, young, tall/short , their names .
Teacher writes the sentences on the blackboard. In order to make pupils understand the new-taught sentences , she uses previous knowledge concerning descriptions , like the name , the age. Questions about the age . 15min
II. The teacher tells and writes the pronouns , then “I am, you are, he is , she is “…etc , used when trying to introduce someone or describe that person.
III. In the previous lesson , the teacher has taught how to answer to the question “What is this?†when about objects. Now, the same kind of question, but for persons “Who is this?†/This is my sister, this is my father, this is my teacher, etc 10 min
IV. Fill in exercise /description of people , family and objects previously learned by children
V. Game/poem :let`s learn a poem , pupils are asked to pronounce the words in a poem they will probably learn by heart later on . 10 min
VI. Final conversation using /employing the acquired knowledge, introducing the members of our family in a longer conversation . The teacher chooses a pupil in order to set the example in front of the class . Conversation that involves the studied structures.
VII. Setting homework :Exercises picked up from the “I am special “ coursebook

Written and oral class work contains: vocabulary –previous lessons as well as new one
